SpeakYourMind is a young, completely independent organisation. Everyone involved is directly in touch with various aspects of the day-to-day realities of teaching English and have a lot of their heads and much of their hearts in the classroom.

It's now almost 20 years since teacher and school-owner Iain McInally started out on this project: a teaching programme that directly addressed students' real priorities and took into account the practicalities of running courses for tied-for-time adults. In the years since then, all our efforts have been focused on developing and trialling teaching methodology and updating and improving course materials - a process that continues. But with consistently positive response from students, the step towards spreading the use of SpeakYourMind seemed natural. 2008 saw the creation of Network Development at SyM and the beginning of a more proactive approach to expanding the network of the 'pioneer' schools in Spain and Japan who adopted SpeakYourMind in the mid and late 90's. As a result, new associate schools have also joined in Russia, the U.S., Brazil, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as further schools in Spain.

Moving forward together:

We want to grow and we believe SpeakYourMind has the real value and the edge to enable this growth. At the same time we want to grow together with people who are committed to providing high standards and with whom we can look forward to a long and fruitful relationship. That is why we have chosen to offer the SpeakYourMind Method in the context of a licensing agreement involving a 'package' which includes training, support and back-up services rather than looking for one-off contacts or book sales. We won't insist you paint your school red and blue, and you won't have to provide constant reports and statistics or pay percentages on earnings - none of the intrusive aspects of being part of a franchise.

The teaching material and the course-management systems we can provide, together with the pooled experience of the associated schools over many years and in different regions means that schools adopting SpeakYourMind do not need to rely on guesswork or intuition when it comes to setting up and running courses.
